Dell EMC Ready Bundle and DataCore MaxParallel for Microsoft SQL Server
On December 13, 2017, Dell EMC announced that it is providing support for Dell EMC PowerEdge 14th generation servers in the Dell EMC Ready Bundle for Microsoft SQL Server and Dell EMC Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct Ready Nodes.

Support for Dell EMC Unity storage systems has been added to the Dell EMC Ready Bundle for Microsoft SQL Server product. Optimized for flash memory, these storages support a large number of simultaneously running virtual machines and provide a comprehensive number of I / O operations per second with a short response time, which makes them suitable for running demanding projects based on Microsoft SQL Server.

The product is based on the technology created by the company’s previous developments related to storage optimization (DataCore Advanced Storage Services).
MaxParallel is a standalone product that does not depend on the DataCore product line for storage systems. However, the company’s SANsymphony and Hyper-Converged Virtual SAN software packages provide shared storage services that can further improve database performance and optimize performance under other mixed workloads.
MaxParallel for SQL Server is designed for ultra fast transaction processing and real-time analytics.
Announcement MaxParallel for Microsoft SQL Server
On September 27, 2017 DataCore Software company presented its first database optimization product designed for ultra fast transaction processing and real-time analytics. MaxParallel for SQL Server is already available on Azure Marketplace as well as from authorized DataCore partners all over the world. The product is easy to deploy and supports SQL Server 2016, 2014, 2012 and 2008 databases running both at the customer site and in the cloud.
According to the developers, MaxParallel for SQL Server optimizes the work of applications that intensively use databases (e-commerce, ERP, high-frequency trading, applications for digital world initiatives such as IoT). The solution eliminates resource conflicts in multi-core systems, which improves the productivity of Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) applications and ensures fast processing of requests during peak workload periods. MaxParallel for SQL Server does not require any additional hardware or modifications to the application code.
According to the developers, the first users who used MaxParallel for applications with large transaction volumes were able to reduce the query processing time by 1.2-3 times, process 20-60% more transactions and prepare reports 1.5-2 times faster.
MaxParallel software has evolved from our designs for applications with very high data rates. We started with storage systems and then saw that the main cause of problems with these applications is inside servers. It soon became clear that Parallel I/O technology could resolve resource conflicts caused by sequential access to the database, with the benefits of this technology even if the database itself parallels requests,” said DataCore Technology Director (CTO) Roni Putra.
The cost of Standard and Enterprise editions of MaxParallel for SQL Server will be about 15% of the recommended retail price of the corresponding Microsoft SQL Server editions. You can license the software by subscription model (with hourly fee) or buy a perpetual license depending on the number of cores of the host processor on which SQL Server is running.
