Oracle TO_MULTI_BYTE function
The Oracle/PLSQL TO_MULTI_BYTE function returns a character value from all single-byte characters and converts it into multi-byte characters. To use this function, your database character set must consist of both single-byte and multi-byte characters.
Syntax of TO_MULTI_BYTE function in Oracle/PLSQL
TO_MULTI_BYTE( char_id )
Parameters or arguments
- char_id – can take values: char, varchar2, nchar, or nvarchar2. This function returns the result in the same character set as char.
The TO_MULTI_BYTE function returns a multi-byte character value that will be in the same character set as char.
The TO_MULTI_BYTE function can be used in the following versions of Oracle/PLSQL
