Oracle TO_SINGLE_BYTE function
The Oracle/PLSQL TO_SINGLE_BYTE function returns a character value in which all multibyte characters are converted to single-byte characters.
To use this function, your database character set must consist of both single-byte and multi-byte characters.
Oracle/PLSQL syntax of TO_SINGLE_BYTE function
TO_SINGLE_BYTE( char_id )
Parameters or arguments
- char_id – can take value: char, varchar2, nchar, or nvarchar2. This function will return the result in the same character set as char.
The TO_SINGLE_BYTE function returns a single byte value.
The TO_SINGLE_BYTE function can be used in the following Oracle/PLSQL versions
